Kathryn Williams at Sheffield Cathedral

Sheffield Cathedral, in partnership with the Off the Shelf Festival, brings Mercury Prize-nominated singer-songwriter Kathryn Williams to the stunning setting of the Cathedral to perform her latest concept album Hypoxia, based on Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar.

Using the themes of motherhood, love and depression, Hypoxia has received rave reviews as a staggering record of beautiful songs revealing Plath as a real, complex person.

Kathryn and her band will perform Hypoxia in its entirety plus a selection of her other work, and will talk about her inspiration for the album.

By inhabiting and responding to a genuinely significant work of literature, Williams has produced her own spellbinding piece of art.
