The end of the festive season will be marked by a performance of Olivier Messiaen’s La Nativité du Seigneur (‘The Nativity of the Lord’) on Sunday 31st January 2016 at 5:30pm. This will follow the Epiphany Procession.
La Nativité is a beautiful and deeply spiritual set of nine meditations for organ, depicting various aspects of the Christmas story and related theology, and was composed by Messiaen, a devout Catholic, in the 1930s.
Refreshments will be available between the preceding service and this performance.
The organ will be played by the Cathedral’s Assistant Director of Music, Joshua Hales.
