We often think of the personal project of living a good life as in significant part a matter of developing and living in accordance with virtues. But does the development and exercise of virtue in an individual person's life depend on the character of those communities of which she is a part? We'll test this hypothesis by considering whether the communities we've been involved in, including our religious communities, have had specific character traits that made a difference for our lives.
