Lunchtime Recital: Carolyne Storey and Neville Crofts

We invite musicians from near and far to share their musical talent with us every Friday during term time. All are welcome! 

This Friday we look forward to welcoming Carolyne Storey singing soprano and Neville Crofts on piano to the Cathedral.

Carolyne Storey’s music career has involved music teaching, choral conducting and teaching singing in the East Riding, West Riding and Lincolnshire. Throughout this time Carolyne has also performed throughout the country in recital, oratorio and concert in venues ranging from stately home, concert hall, cathedrals and churches. She is currently MD of The Brayburn Singers and Howden U3A choir. Recent engagements include Castle Howard, Aldby Park, Guildhall/City Hall Hull, Hexham Abbey, Carlisle, Birmingham, London and Wakefield Cathedral. Future engagements include Messiah, Creation, recitals at Lanercost Priory, Carlisle, London and Scunthorpe. Carolyne continues her studies with Patricia Macmahon, tutor at Glasgow Conservatoire and Royal Northern Manchester. Carolyne is also a licensed worship leader for the Diocese of Sheffield. Carolyne is delighted to be performing with Neville in today’s recital.

Neville Crofts has studied piano at Goldsmiths College, Morley College and City Lit for over 30 years and has taken part in many amateur concerts. He has also studied accompaniment and regularly attends “The Art of Song” summer school founded by the soprano April Cantelo, and this is where he met Carolyne. Besides music-making Neville ran his own financial advice company until two years ago is now semi -retired. He studies in the advanced piano workshop at City Lit with Yekaterina Lebedeva.
