Sheffield Cathedral is taking part in this year's Heritage Open Day, exploring pilgrimage and and extraordinary women of Sheffield Cathedral.
Rufus the Cathedral Mouse will still be available on his Pilgrim Tour of the Cathedral! Join Rufus on his pilgrimage, explore the Christian life and the Cathedral, a site of worship for over 1,000 years,
There will be a small exhibition of a medieval Pilgrim token from the Cathedral archives. Come and find out about the significance of this small historic item with a big history behind it. This ancient pilgrim souvenir probably once held Holy Water and would have been a treasured possession of a pilgrim over 400 years ago.
One of the themes of the Heritage Open Day event for 2018 is ‘Extraordinary Women’ acknowledging the centenary of The Peoples Representation Act 1918 which was the beginning of equal voting rights. Come and visit the Chapel of St Katharine which is a chapel uniquely dedicated to the life and work of some extraordinary women associated with Sheffield Cathedral.
The 1554 Coffee shop will be open and our Cathedral Gift Shop will be selling a range of Cathedral and local souvenirs.
