A free talk for school children in Years 6, 7, 8 and 9 by Helen Sharman, the first British astronaut.
*We are no longer taking bookings for this as the event is fully booked. If places become available we will announce this on our Facebook page and we will update this event*
In 1991 Helen Sharman became the first British astronaut when she joined the Soviet crew on the Mir Space Station as a research cosmonaut on an eight-day mission. She was selected from over 13,000 applicants but didn’t think she stood a chance of being chosen when she applied.
A superb speaker, Helen enthuses her audience about Space, STEM and the wonders of science. She talks about her meticulous training and preparation, learning Russian, launch and landing, how weightlessness feels, her science experiments, the team spirit, and readjusting to life on Earth. Now she is invited to speak globally at corporate, public, government, academic and school events.
On Friday 13 March, Helen returns to Sheffield, where she grew up and went to school, to talk to inspire children to reach for the stars…
