Chapterhouse Theatre Company returns once again with Shakespeare’s much-loved romantic comedy.
Settle in for a story that explores love, innocence, and identity, and meet star-crossed lovers, a riotous troupe of travelling players, and the King and Queen of the fairies who live in an enchanted forest outside the walls of the city of Athens. Elizabethan costumes, an original musical score, and woodland creatures come together to make an evening of unmissable summer garden theatre, set under the haze and glow of the setting sun.

Bronagh, Enniskillen Castle: Superb. Your actors performed it brilliantly. We were all mesmerised!
Krystyna, Kew at Wakehurst: Such a funny, human, innovative splendid performance... thank you for the midsummer magic!
Joe, National Botanic Gardens Dublin: I really enjoyed seeing this outdoors in lovely gardens. Kids were a big part of the audience and everyone was relaxed and able to enjoy the lovely language. The actors, sets and music brought the play to life in a lovely way.
Carol, Quarry Bank Mill: Entertaining and professional. The best performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream I have ever seen.
Chapterhouse Theatre Company’s Open-air Garden Theatre Tour of UK and Ireland 2020
Chapterhouse Theatre Company is excited to present its 2020 open-air tour for its 21st anniversary year. Throughout the summer, Chapterhouse will be bringing productions of six classic stories to some of the UK and Ireland’s most beautiful outdoor venues, including the Sandringham Estate and Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew in Wakehurst, promising to be one of the most enchanting and unmissable events of the summer.
For our 21st year of touring theatre, we are staying true to our Shakespearean roots with A Midsummer Night’s Dream and reviving our hugely popular children’s show from 2018, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Our love of Jane Austen continues to feature in our summer line-up, this time in the form of Emma, a show we haven’t toured since 2012.
Fans of mystery and intrigue will be satisfied as we return to the stage with Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes and The Hound of the Baskervilles, as well as Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre. Finishing off our 2020 productions is the American literary classic Little Women, appearing for a second run since its debut in 2018.
