Join us as we mark the 80th anniversary of the Sheffield Blitz - one year on.
The day will include screening of a rare Sheffield Blitz film; remembrance service; exhibition; World War Two reenactors and display of vintage military vehicles and memorabilia and the launch of the 10th anniversary edition of ‘Sheffield’s Date With Hitler’ – the book that was turned into BBC documentary ‘Sheffield – The Forgotten Blitz’.
The event is being organised by Sheffield Cathedral, the National Emergency Services Museum, Sheffield’s Date With Hitler author Neil Anderson and Richard Godley, project manager for Sheffield Blitz 75th.
The Sheffield Blitz film will be shown inside the Cathedral throughout the day. Neil Anderson will also have his book available to buy and he can sign copies after his talk.
Following the film people can spend time in the Cathedral and explore the space. The Yorks and Lancashire Memorial Books will be available for people to see if they wish.
Schedule
12pm – 5pm: WWII vehicles and reenactors on the Cathedral Square
6pm: Talk by Neil Anderson
7pm: a short Act of Commemoration and laying of a wreath in the Cathedral followed by the showing of the Sheffield Blitz film
