City of Sanctuary Art Exhibition: John Wilsher

  • Sheffield Cathedral Church Street Sheffield S1 1HA (map)

An exhibition exploring the stories of refugees, shining a light on the perilous journeys asylum seekers undertake.

“The world is a very tough and frightening place for some people. Many, who fear for their own and their families lives because they face violence, persecution, or war. They undertake extremely hazardous journeys to escape.”
- John Wilsher, artist

It is through voluntary work with Assist, a Sheffield charity who support destitute asylum seekers, that artist John Wilsher has drawn inspiration for this exhibition of paintings which celebrates individual refugees.

The exhibition is also raising funds for Assist and City of Sanctuary, and John would appreciate donations of any amount. You can donate by scanning the QR code at the exhibition or via the link to his JustGiving page below.

Entry to the exhibition is free and available to see during the Cathedral’s opening hours.
