Lunchtime Recital: Thomas Moore

Thomas Moore was born in Leicester where he received his first musical tuition at the piano at the age of four years old. Tom studied at both undergraduate and postgraduate level at the University of Huddersfield, holding organist posts at Huddersfeild Parish Church, Bradford Cathedral, and St. James the Greater Parish Church in Leicester during these years. He graduated with Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts in music degrees and is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists.

Tom was appointed Assistant Organist of Peterborough Cathedral at the age of 22 before being appointed Assistant Director of Music at Wakefield Cathedral where he worked for 18 years, for the latter 10 years as Director of Music.

In recent years Tom has worked as a freelance musician and played the organ and piano as a recitalist and accompanist throughout Yorkshire and further afield. He has maintained his long lasting work with choral societies, and has served as Assistant Musical Director of both the Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir and Harrogate Choral Society. Most recently Tom was appointed Director of Music and Organist of St Matthew’s Church, Northampton, taking up the post in September 2022.
