Louise Alp

Louise is a soprano based in Leeds and she studied music at the University of Huddersfield. Whilst at University, she was a soloist in St Nicholas by Benjamin Britten, with the University Choir. She was also a soloist in the University’s production ‘The Fairy Queen’ and performed as part of a duo with the Chamber Choir at the York Early Music Centre.

In 2018, Louise performed at the Leeds Festival of Remembrance & is a regular guest soloist for the Leeds Male Voice Choir.

In 2019-20 Louise’s engagements included recitals at St John’s The Baptist Church in Chester & at Wakefield Cathedral. She was also part of the 2019 York Festival of Ideas, performing at her own solo event at St Helen’s Church, Stonegate. Louise was the concert soloist for the Huddersfield Choral Society & Horsforth Choral Society, for their Faure's Requiem performances in 2019, working with conductors Gregory Batsleer & Matthew Lazenby respectively.

2020 engagements included a recital at Halifax Minster in early March, and a virtual recital from home for Otley Courthouse in April. In February 2022, Louise will be the guest soloist for Matthew Coleridge’s Requiem performance at St Wilfrid’s Harrogate.

Louise is a member of a number of ensembles including Leeds Masterworks Chorale, Leeds based Chamber Choir Borealis, Huddersfield Choral Society & Christ Church Choir, Harrogate, where she achieved the RSCM Gold Award.

Louise studies with composer and conductor Tim Knight.
