We invite musicians from near and far to share their musical talent with us. All are welcome!
This Sunday we look forward to welcoming Sheffield-born violist Ruby Bowler.
Ruby is a young violist from Sheffield who was admitted to Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2018 with scholarship, studying with Professor Gary Pomeroy (Heath Quartet). With her studies now drawing to a close, she graduates this September moving into the world of freelance, extending on her many and various orchestral, session and chamber engagements to date.
An avid chamber musician, she has just returned from the Virtuoso Belcanto Festival and competition as a member of the Lairig Quartet. The ensemble has had masterclasses with Peter Nagy, Luc Marie Aguera, Bruno Giuranna and Adrian Brendel in Italy, and have previously worked with Nash Ensemble, Chiligirian Quartet, Heath Quartet, Zehetmair Quartet and De Coda Ensemble.
Ruby is keen to champion meaningful music education today, which demands working sideways and innovatively in new and often challenging situations. She has run projects in schools, SEN centres, cardiac wards and also travelled with Wind Up Penguin Theatre Company reaching children in disadvantaged areas such as refugee camps in Lebanon.
