Come along and hear David Grealy, Assistant Organist at Leeds Cathedral, as part of our new organ recital series. David will be presenting a classic and varied programmes, including Baroque organ staples such as Dieterich Buxtehude’s Toccata in F and J. S. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in E minor.
Admission is free, with a voluntary donation to support the Cathedral’s music programme.
About the Performer
David Grealy, a native of Galway in the west of Ireland, has been as Assistant Organist at Leeds Cathedral since January 2022. In this role, he plays regularly for cathedral services and also teaches on the keyboard programme for the diocese of Leeds. Before moving to Leeds, David held positions at Westminster Cathedral, St Mary's Pro-Cathedral (Dublin), and St Bartholomew's Church (Dublin). In 2017 he completed a Masters in organ performance at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz, Cologne, where he studied organ performance with Margareta Hürholz and liturgical organ playing and improvisation with Ansgar Wallenhorst. He is a first-class honours graduate of Maynooth University (2008), and in 2019, became a fellow of the Royal College of Organists. David is regular demand as an accompanist, both at home and abroad, and has featured in broadcasts for the BBC, RTÉ (Ireland) and WDR (Germany).
