Celebrate the true gift of Christmas at sheffield cathedral illuminated
3 - 7 December
Start your festive celebrations with a visit to Sheffield Cathedral Illuminated: The Gift created by Luxmuralis.
Sheffield Cathedral is once again teaming up with award-winning art projection specialists Luxmuralis to help you start your Christmas celebrations in style with the world premiere of ‘The Gift’ son-et-lumiere.
‘The Gift’ will be the Cathedral’s fifth Christmas illuminations. Since ‘The Angels are Coming’ in 2019 nearly 40,000 people have marvelled at the incredible multi-sensory light and sound immersive experience inside and outside this ancient building. Watch in awe as the story of God’s greatest gift to us all is brought to life across the ancient walls of the Cathedral.
Take your time to explore the Cathedral and discover every side chapel each beautifully illuminated. Soak up the festive feelings of goodwill, enjoy the beautifully decorated Christmas trees, relish in seasonal treats from 1554 Coffee and Gift Shop, say a prayer and light a candle next to the famous Sheffield Steel Nativity.
A visit to Sheffield Cathedral Illuminated has quickly become a Sheffield festive family tradition. We invite you to join us between 3 - 7 December to celebrate the Gift of Christmas.

Working with Luxmuralis
After four previous spectacular Christmas lightshows we are delighted to be collaborating again with the team from Luxmuralis to transform the Cathedral with a beautiful articulated series of projections and accompanying bespoke sound composition.
“We are delighted to return to Sheffield and the continuation of our partnership with the Cathedral” says Peter Walker, artistic director for Luxmuralis. “The Christmas light installation has become a tradition for many in the area and it is always fantastic to see people of all ages visiting to experience the Cathedral adorned inside and out with light art and beautiful music. It is also fantastic to be able to premiere “The Gift” in the city this year.”
Previous Luxmuralis light shows are ‘Starlight’ in 2023, ‘The Manger’ in 2022, ‘The Beginning’ in 2021 and ‘The Angels are Coming’ in 2019.
Luxmuralis take their imaginative light projections across the world and throughout the UK including locations such The Bodleian Library in Oxford, Lichfield Cathedral, Liverpool Cathedral, Lincoln Cathedral, Guildford Cathedral, Exeter Cathedral and St Albans Cathedral. More information about Luxmuralis and details where you can see more of their incredible projections can be found here.
