Italian collector Patrizia Sandretto visited Sheffield a few weeks back for the Going Public Sheffield Summit. While she was in town the Going Public team sat down with her to hear her thoughts on collecting and what makes good art.
Patrizia says collecting is in her DNA, and her collection began with a trip to London in 1992. She believes good art is art that in the future will help explain the past - art that will tell a story about the past. She also thinks good art has to be synchronized in the moment in which we live, and she describes the exhibition in Sheffield Cathedral as filling both criteria.
