It was a great joy this week to join with many folk from across our Diocese, as well as from the community here at the Cathedral, to celebrate the consecration of Pete Wilcox as a bishop. 

There are times when it seems we are faced with genuine difficulty and the only response we can offer is to pray.

If nothing else the last few weeks have reminded the Church of England of some of the many areas where it has found it difficult to gather agreement. 

For a few days last week the Cathedral was the scene of much staff frustration when our ability to communicate electronically came to a standstill. 

Although there may well be a sense of the seasons changing, there is also a very strong link between the themes of encounter and hope present in the incarnation.

The Font is a powerful symbol of the calling and vocation of all baptised believers; to shine as a light in the world to the glory of God the Father.

In a few days time we shall begin, together with our other churches, the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

On Sunday 20th November, the Church celebrated the Feast of Christ the King.

As we all gathered to watch fireworks explode, bonfires ignite and sparklers glow at the weekend, I wonder if we stopped to think of the significance of the occasion.
