Hundreds heading to Cathedral to commemorate the Battle of the Somme

We will remember

Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, the Bishop of Sheffield, the Dean of Sheffield, the Cathedral community and many people from across South Yorkshire will join together this weekend to remember those who fought and those who died at the Battle of the Somme in July 1916.

People from all walks of life will gather to remember those who came from the communities of South Yorkshire and who served in local regiments. The commemoration will be based around the ancient office of evensong, but will provide an opportunity for all people to gather for this important act of remembrance and commemoration.

The preacher will be the Dean of Sheffield, the Very Reverend Peter Bradley and General Sir Mike Jackson will speak at a drinks reception following the service.

The service is free to attend but space is limited. All attendees must book a ticket to reserve seats.
