Are you a student? Would you like to volunteer in the heritage/non-profit sector?
Our volunteers fill a wide variety of roles to ensure that all who come to the Cathedral are welcomed and supported.
The Cathedral would not be a place for all people without our volunteers!
#StudentVolunteeringWeek
If you’re a student, volunteering is a great way to meet new people and gain valuable experience.
“Working in the City Cathedral is a great experience. Since I am an international student, is a good way for me to really understand the culture of this country. As a marketing student, I am doing the volunteer job at the shop of the cathedral, which I could practice both my marketing skills and English speaking skill. Every time, when I finished my volunteer job in the shop, I feel like I am full of energy and love. I love this job and my colleagues and this volunteering is becoming an important part of my life.”

“I decided to volunteer at the Sheffield cathedral because I wanted to experience a friendly environment where I could meet new people and, in so doing, improve my communication skills. Being a volunteer at the cathedral of Sheffield also means understanding Sheffield’s history and culture. In my specific case, being a welcomer involves welcoming people with a big smile and help them out (for example giving information or just having a chat). I’ve improved my way of approaching people and had very interesting conversations. All that said, where could you find a better volunteering experience?!”
