Day one: The journey begins!
We pinned on our Pilgrim badges and boarded the plane. A smooth flight full of excited anticipation. I must admit that a short incident of turbulence did increase my quality of prayer life! A wonderful view of the Alps over the wing was the perfect distraction.
Arrived in Tel Aviv as a tired but happy band of pilgrims. As we approached Jerusalem we stopped to pray and read Psalm 122. ‘I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’ And now our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem.’
Verse 7 is our hope as we settled to sleep, ‘Peace be within your walls and tranquility within your palaces’
Canon Keith and The Dean’s pilgrimage to The Holy Land is in preparation for a Sheffield Cathedral Pilgrimage open to members of the congregation taking place in 2021. Would you like more details? Please send Canon Keith an email.
