We announce with deep regret that Sheffield Cathedral Enterprises, the trading arm of Sheffield Cathedral, has today taken the difficult decision to make three valued members of staff in the 1554 Coffee Shop redundant. Those staff affected have been informed.
We have experienced what many of us would never have considered -- our Cathedral church with its doors closed to the public for months on end. We have come to realise that life after lockdown is likely to be very different, and that there will be a “new normal” for many months to come.
These decisions about redundancies have been difficult to take, not least because they will directly impact on several of our colleagues and indirectly impact on us all in our wider Cathedral community. We have not taken them lightly, but we do think they are necessary to secure the long-term future of the Cathedral and its wider mission.
