Finance
The Treasurer gave an update on the Cathedral’s current financial position and informed Chapter that the Sheffield Church Burgesses have confirmed that they are continuing to provide support to Sheffield Cathedral for which Chapter expressed their gratitude. The Treasurer highlighted a concern from January Management Accounts that voluntary giving was lower than budgeted and that this needed close scrutiny and urgent action to avoid a challenging position later in the year.
Voluntary giving was discussed and it was noted that the cathedral needs to ensure diverse income streams to mitigate financial risk moving forward. A discussion around future actions and communication with stakeholders took place and the need for a Congregational Giving Team to be set up was agreed.
Cathedral’s Measure
The Chief Operating Officer gave a brief update as to the current status of work on the implementation of the Cathedrals Measure 2021 and terms of reference for various committee meetings were discussed and agreed for feedback to solicitors for inclusion in the cathedral’s new Constitution and Statutes.
Recruitment
Dean Abi confirmed to Chapter the appointment of Tom Daggett as Director of Music and Schools Singing Programme and gave an update around recruitment to the vacant Canon Missioner post, shortlisting for which is due to take place in the coming week.
