It is recorded in the scriptures that Jesus often found a quiet place and space to spend time in prayer. He encouraged his disciples to do this and on one occasion he told them to come away to a quiet place to rest awhile.
Removing ourselves from the daily routine and finding space in different surroundings can be a nourishing experience. Jesus knew the value of this in his life and ministry when he sought out a quiet place for prayer.
For several years we have organised a weekend retreat at Parcevall Hall, North Yorkshire. We shall be going again this year from Friday 19 June to Sunday 21 June. The Retreat programme will include a series of bible reflections exploring our vocation to prayer. You can also simply come and use the hall as a venue from which you can visit the surrounding area – with some of the most beautiful walking in the country.
Perhaps the time is right for you to take the opportunity to benefit from a retreat. Why not make some space to think, to pray and relax with others of a like mind? I encourage you to think seriously about joining the retreat. It will do you the power of good!
