We are delighted to announce that Canon Keith Farrow has been appointed as one of the Guardians of the Standard of Wrought Plate in the Township of Sheffield.
This body of people was created by an Act of Parliament in 1773 at the time of the establishment of the Assay Officer in Sheffield. You can read more about the body here.
Alongside his work as Vice Dean and Canon Missioner at Sheffield Cathedral, Canon Keith has responsibilities and oversight of the care of artwork and the collection of Cathedral silver. Over the past few years Canon Keith has been involved in the successful acquisition of art and the commissioning new pieces of silver for the cathedral.
Canon Keith said, ‘Those who know me and my enthusiasm for silver will know how delighted I am to be appointed as one of the Guardians of the Standard of Wrought Plate in the Township of Sheffield. I am looking forward to making my contribution and learning more about the world of silver and hallmarking in Sheffield.’
