The Revd Dr Casey Strine Joins the Cathedral Community

We warmly welcome the Revd Dr Casey Strine to the Cathedral community as a Minor Canon.

Casey will be welcomed to the Cathedral community and licensed as a Minor Canon this coming Sunday at 4pm, followed by refreshments. We hope you will join us.

Dean Abi says ‘I’m really excited to be working with Casey. He will contribute greatly to our life at the Cathedral, both stretching our thinking and encouraging our friendships with the many and diverse faith communities in Sheffield. We welcome him very warmly and look forward to praying together in the coming years.’

Casey says ‘I’m thrilled to be joining the Cathedral community as self supporting minister and Minor Canon Theologian.

I work full time at the University of Sheffield, where I have taught ancient Near Eastern history in the Department of History since 2013. I was ordained Deacon in 2018, priest in 2019, and then served my curacy at St Thomas Crookes, including a placement at All Saints Ecclesall. Since 2021 I have supported Bishop Pete as his Advisor for Inter-Faith Affairs, a role that I will continue at the Cathedral. I am married to Amanda, and we have two boys, Jack and Charlie—all of whom I hope you’ll get to know.

As part of the Cathedral community, I look forward to helping it engage with the city and to build strong relationships with the universities, their students, and with people from other faith communities. In all of this, I pray we can show them what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus, caring for those in need and building the kingdom of God in our city.’
